The Friends of the Norbertine Canonesses are planning a fundraising event to benefit the future chapel for the Monastery of the Bethlehem Priory of St. Joseph. The event will be held at Triassic Legacy Vineyard on Saturday, Aug. 29th. It will include a Greek inspired menu prepared by Chef Mano Lujan (Red House BBQ and The Shed), wine tasting of Triassic's awardwinning wines, live music and a silent auction. The Wine Tasting and Silent Auction will begin at 5 p.m., with dinner served at 6:30. Jim Scott, Channel 17 NBC news anchor and producer of the news piece "Sisters of the Mountain" will be the evening's emcee. Tickets are $100.00/person and must be purchased by August 20th. Mother Mary Augustine and six Sisters came to Tehachapi in May of 2000, following the founding of their community in 1997. They now number thirty five Sisters and are growing. The Norbertine Order was founded in 1121 and is one of the oldest religious orders of the Roman Catholic Church. The Tehachapi community is the first foundation of Norbertine Canonesses in the United States. Their entire life is centered around daily Mass and chanting of the seven canonical hours of the Divine Office, celebrated together in choir and, with their other prayers, encompassing about 7 to 8 hours each day.

The Canonesses have a dedicated email prayer request line ([email protected]), receiving prayer requests daily from around the globe and responding individually to each request. They also receive prayer intentions via phone (661-823-1066), mail and in-person visits.
