Tehachapi's Online Community News & Entertainment Guide
Once upon a time, we kept our porch lights on. We opened the door even if we didn’t know who rang the bell. Also, we could always leave the back door unlocked during the day. We know this is no longer possible, but we can join together for a safer community and neighborhoods by your participation in the nationwide “National Night Out” Aug. 4.
Please join the Tehachapi Collaborative, Tehachapi Police Department, City of Tehachapi, Tehachapi Valley Recreation and Parks Department and First 5 Kern, in celebration of the 31st “National Night Out” to be held in Tehachapi’s Central Park on Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2015 from 5 to 8 p.m. (Tehachapi has been participating for five years now). Everyone is invited for this FREE event.
National Night Out is a safe and fun event that offers something for every age group! There will be free food, music, a bicycle rodeo, many community agencies/organizations with information booths and fun activities, raffle prizes and much more.
Tehachapi Police Department will be conducting a Bicycle Safety/Rodeo so bring your children and their bicycles, and don’t forget their helmets. The TPD Explorers will oversee the bicycle obstacle course, check out your bike, talk about safety and provide bicycle registration.
New this year TVRPD will be doing a Movie In The Park immediately following National Night Out. The featured movie will be ‘Paddington’. Bring your blankets, chairs and enjoy a wonderful evening under the Tehachapi sky.
Tehachapi Police Chief Kent Kroeger says “Please join our community and the Tehachapi Police Department by coming out to show your support for safe neighborhoods. National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, better places to live. Together, we are making that happen.”
