Indian Summer Sunset at Triassic Vineyards

There’s a vivid memory I hold dear from visiting the San Antonio River Walk—the melodious sounds of the Native American wooden flutes. We were celebrating my 2nd-oldest daughter who had just graduated from US Air Force BMT. It was emotional and is seared in my motherly heart. No doubt, others have experienced seeing one’s child graduating from “Boot Camp” and have profound memories too. On that day, sixteen years ago, I first heard the soft melodies of wooden flutes echoing through the concrete canyons of the River Walk.

As I’ve expressed before, our family has the opportunity to receive some fascinating people at Triassic Vineyards. We had that kind of day when a gentleman came in and shared his talents with a “business card”. It caught my attention when he said, “Native American wooden flutes!” With our summertime lecture series on the horizon, I knew we wanted his return.

KEN KORDES will be our featured guest on our final Wednesday evening of the summer. He is a retired aerospace engineer and frequently travels from Arizona to visit his dad here in Bear Valley Springs. Ken started his relationship with the Native American style flutes after receiving one as a gift in 1992. He is a classically-trained woodwind musician and those skills have transferred magically! Ken and a musician partner formed “Ancient Echoes” in 2012 and have so far released two CDs.

Triassic Vineyards is honored to host Ken’s talents in our tasting room for TWO evenings. Please join us for an Indian Summer Sunset, Sept. 9 from 7-8:30 p.m. His presentation will include a featured talk, describing his amazing wooden flute collection in addition to his performance.

Complimentary snacks served in a cozy atmosphere and fine wine available for sale by the glass or bottle. Questions? Call Annie 760-525-2373. Additionally, Ken will be playing his enchanting music on FOOD NiTe Friday, Sept. 11 from 5-8pm! Catering provided by Mill St. Kitchen, served 5-7 p.m. ~ $11 Teriyaki Chicken skews, rice pilaf & salad. Award-winning Triassic wine sold separately. Relax a bit to the ancient sounds at Triassic!
