"We can be in acceptance or fight against what we fear. change will still occur." ~ Jacqueline Garza
Jacqueline Garza advocates for social justice and social change so underrepresented communities can live with dignity and peace in the world. Her groundbreaking workshops shed light and offer solutions on issues such as human trafficking, domestic violence, gender identity, sexual orientation, child advocacy, addiction/recovery, and Native American concerns. She’s helped advise the development of protocols for law enforcement and community agencies to use while addressing these issues and break ground in creating a deeper understanding of communities on the margins of society.
Jacquie’s personal story stands as an inspiration to all who meet her. She shows how a person can take their personal challenges and move beyond them, finding the spiritual and emotional gifts of healing. With a B.S. in Psychology, and a certification in drug and alcohol counseling, Jacquie provides community education and continuing education to professionals while striving to make an impact in her presentations. Her goal is simple: to expose participants to the ever-evolving human condition, sensitize people to the experience of the marginalized, and build bridges of understanding.
Her upcoming presentation “The New Lexicon of Gender Identity” will provide information on the topic of gender identity and the evolution of change that has broken the boundaries of the outdated binary system in place. The presentation will cover non-binary gender identities and the fluidity of gender identification. As the evolution of gender continues, the dialogue is changing.
The Presentation is free and open to all that are interested in the topic. It will be a three part series beginning Sunday Oct. 25, 2015 at 9 a.m., at the Tehachapi Congregational Church on the corner of Green St. and E. in the Friendship Hall. This will be held on three consecutive Sundays. Oct. 25, Nov.1 and 8, 2015 at 9 a.m.
