Tehachapi's Online Community News & Entertainment Guide
Christmas came to Tehachapi a little early with the Have-a-Heart Humane Society “Giving Tree.” Volunteers Cherrill Gragg, Valerie Santiago and Jennifer Jorgensen decorated the tree with paws and photo cards memorializing some pets who went over the Rainbow Bridge and rescued pets who have found a home through Have-a-Heart. The tree is topped by a dog angel, a special ornament belonging to Gina Christopher, in memory or her beloved Murphy.
Have-a-Heart is asking Tehachapi’s pet lovers to find it in their hearts to support this fundraiser by visiting the tree in the Radio Shack and picking a paw or a card off the tree. On the back of each paw or card is an item that Have-a-Heart needs including dog and cat food, leashes, collars, harnesses and copy paper. All items may be purchased locally for shopping convenience.
Simply print your name in the book next to the tree and write down the name of the item you will be purchasing. After you make your purchase, bring the item back (unwrapped), attach the card to it, and put it under the tree by December 23.
Have-a-Heart has been helping Tehachapi pet owners get their pets spayed or neutered at affordable prices for more than two years. Have-a-Heart would like to thank our volunteers for putting the tree together and thank Radio Shack, without whom the organization would not be where it is today.
