What's up in Stallion Springs?

Ready to get gigafied? Race is moving forward with fiber installations in Zone 1 and will soon be starting on Zone 2. Here’s some information to speed up your installation: Sites with existing aerial installation (telephone/old TV cable) may be installed without SSCSD approval. Sites with direct bury, underground installation will be used. Homeowners may request aerial drop approval from SSCSD sites with existing underground conduit where there is capacity, the conduit will be used. For sites with underground conduit that is full, underground installation will be used or the homeowner may request overhead installation approval from the SSCSD.

Approval process for aerial installation:

ARTCOM applications for aerial approval where required are located on the SSCSD website and at the CSD office. Website applications may be downloaded, filled out and dropped off at the SSCSD office. Hardcopies can be dropped off at the CSD office. When filling out the application, check the “other” box and write in “aerial drop by RACE Communications”. Completed applications will be reviewed by CSD staff and homeowners will be notified by the CSD with a decision in a timely manner. If you have service that has already been installed incorrectly please contact the CSD for additional information so your service is not interrupted.

Space Heaters Safety

It’s cold outside and space heaters can be a quick way to heat up a room. However, they can be as dangerous as they are convenient if used improperly. Space heaters cause 25,000 home fires a year and 6,000 emergency room visits. Approximately one-third of all house fires nationwide happen during the cold home-heating months between December and February. Follow the instructions that come with the heater and keep them away from flammable items.

Many people also use electric blankets to keep warm during cold winter nights. Before plugging in electric blankets, check for any damage and inspect cord for frays, cracks or cuts. Electric blankets should not be tucked under the mattress and nothing should be placed on top of the blanket while it’s in use, including comforters and bedspreads. Pets should never be allowed to sleep on the electric blanket.
