Cheers to Charity 2016 is Shaping Up!

Cheers to Charity 2016 is shaping up to be the Must-Do Charity Event for the Summer Season! This annual fund raising event, to be held Saturday, August 13 at Aviator Park, has more sponsors, more surprises and more fun planned than ever before!

Cheers to Charity benefits local charities and features live music, mouth-watering tapas, scrumptious wines, delicious craft beer ... plus the area’s only offering of skillfully made home-brewed beer. Choice cigars (available for purchase), a silent auction, a coffee and dessert bar are also planned. Aviator Park, within the footprint of the Tehachapi Airport, plays host to this year’s event.

“We are so excited about the 2016 event. Support from community business leaders has been affirming and strong. Local residents have been receptive; tickets are selling fast; and restaurants, breweries and wineries are lining up to participate. We’re feeling pretty good,” said Mary Beth Garrison, Cheers to Charity President. “All the effort benefits Tehachapi area community-based organizations. It is truly a labor of love.”

Tehachapi’s own Souza Family Vineyards, Triassic Vineyards, Per La Vita, Stray Leaves Vineyard, Veritas Tapas and Wine Bar and Honey Wagon Brewing will be on hand to proudly pour their offerings. Popular Central Coast wineries Opolo Vineyards, Tobin James Cellars and Vines on the Marycrest will also join the celebration! Brews from Temblor, Firestone Walker, Goose and Tioga Sequoia will be featured. Desserts from BH Creations and coffee from Starbucks will top off the evening.

Proceeds from Cheers to Charity will benefit Tehachapi non-profits including: Gateway Connections, Tehachapi Mountain Search & Rescue and Tehachapi Veteran’s Collaborative Services. The Rotary Club, Tehachapi EDC, Tehachapi VALLEY WRESTLING CLUB and Stallion Springs CERT will also benefit through their help with event logistics. Mini-grants will be available, to additional charitable groups, following the event.

Last year, Cheers to Charity distributed $26,000 and benefited 17 local non-profit organizations.

VIP and General Admission tickets are available online. VIP tickets cost $100 and include early admission, special appetizers, fine wines and beers - inside an inviting VIP tent. Only 100 VIP tickets will be sold. No VIP tickets will be sold at the door. General Admission is $55.00 or $75.00 at the door. Participating Local Non-profit Organizations•

COMMUNITY CLEAN SWEEP (CCS) is the event’s organizing non-profit. CCS is dedicated to cleaner, healthier communities. Since 1989, CCS has given thousands of hours and thousands of dollars to communities from Lost Hills to Boron - in an effort to beautify, strengthen and support better places to live and work. COMMUNITY CLEAN SWEEP will not receive proceeds from the evening’s event.

Gateway Connections provides children and adults with special needs a “gateway to learning and social development” by means of educational programs, recreational opportunities, social activities and performing arts participation. Gateway provides scholarships for speech and equine therapy and currently host a social club (dinner and square dance) for adults with special needs - enabling for a safe, positive social experience. Gateway Connections is dedicated to the empowerment of community members with special needs.

veterans Collaborative Services provides for veterans Rights Awareness; temporary financial assistance for veterans and their dependents; Veteran employment training and job search; support for earned Veteran medical, educational and financial benefits; and mentoring services. Their goal is to support local veterans as they integrate back into civilian life by providing the necessary support to lead successful lives back home.

Tehachapi Mountain Search and Rescue assists the Kern County Sheriff and Kern County Fire in search efforts to locate lost, injured or missing individuals within the greater Tehachapi community. These dedicated men and women live up to their motto: “We Search so Others May Live”. In October, 2015, these team of well-trained professionals worked over 36 hours straight to help rescue approximately 300 people from stranded and buried vehicles during cataclysmic mudslides.

The following organizations are event partners - helping ensure the success of the evening. These Tehachapi organizations will also benefit financially from Cheers to Charity.

Tehachapi Economic Development Council strives to preserve Tehachapi’s high quality of life and continuing economic growth. The mission is accomplished in these three ways: business attraction, business retention and business support through public-private partnerships and collaboration.

Tehachapi Rotary Club is a non-profit organization dedicated to the Rotary motto of “service above self”. Tehachapi’s club was founded in 1987 and has an active group of civic-minded members. Some of their ongoing projects include: an Annual Holiday Lunch for Seniors, a Smoke Detector Project, Literacy efforts and much more. The volunteer organization also actively engages in international programs - benefitting thousands around the world!

Tehachapi VALLEY WRESTLING CLUB is a youth wrestling program. Established in 2007, TVWC provides training to enhance wrestling technique and strategy for the betterment of the individual, the community and all higher level wrestling programs.

Stallion Springs CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) is a non-profit organization offering emergency training and deployment to effectively provide emergency response during periods of neighborhood disaster. They work hand-inhand with public safety agencies including the Stallion Springs Police Department, Kern County Fire Department and Cal Fire.
