What's Up in Stallion Springs?
John Barnes has been named the new Pastor at Stallion Springs Community Church. Barnes will begin his full time duties on August 14. He is from Texas, but has been a missionary in Haiti for the past few years. He is married to Christi and they have a teenage daughter Tehah, and two adopted Haitian children, Ava and Jordan.
Pastor Barnes and his family are excited about moving to the area and looking forward to working with the Community.
The search process began in February of 2016 and the Pastor Search Committee (PSC) had no idea what to expect. The PSC consisted of four church members. All are volunteers who serve in the church, and have very busy family lives and jobs. They all came with a different level of professional experience that balanced each other.
A job description was created along with an application and an advertisement put on several pastor search websites. They ended up with close to 100 applications, many from other countries, but most from the United States. This was way more than anyone expected. Countless hours were spent reviewing applications, watching video sermons, and researching the applicants. A list of the top ten candidates was selected to move forward in the process. These ten candidates were then interviewed in a video conference call. The PSC selected the top four candidates
and the top two were invited to Stallion Springs to spend a weekend with the church staff. Each had an in-person interview with the staff and the Board of Directors and delivered a sermon on Sunday for the congregation.
After the visits, the congregation voted, and the Board of Directors agreed with the 96% vote in favor of Pastor John Barnes. The Board of Directors offered the Senior Pastor position at Stallion Spring Community Church to Pastor John Barnes and he accepted.
Stop by and say hello and watch for special events at the church. You do not need to be a member to join in the events.
CSD Board
The Board of Directors approved an increase in water service and sewer connection capacity fees for new construction at the July 19 Board meeting. The fees had not been reviewed in several years and the increase represents a review and analysis of costs associated with providing future water and sewer service. These fee increases do not affect current customer's only new builds.
