Down-Home Bluegrass by Bear Mountain Boy in Central Park

August 20 - 3:30 to 5pm

Devoted to authentic bluegrass pickin' and rich gospel-style vocal harmonies, the Bear Mountain Boys offer up a menu of original songs, traditional hymns, and classic covers from legends such as Flatt & Scruggs, Bill Monroe, and Jim & Jesse McReynolds.

Rick Morgan pilots the band with rocksolid guitar rhythms while reaching those high tenor notes in the vocal harmonies. An all-around bluegrasser, Rick can also pound the "doghouse" bass, provide solos on banjo and dobro, and write heartfelt songs for the band. Scott Sparling fires up every show with blazing 5-string banjo licks while adding his deep-down bass vocals. He is also a fine fiddler, guitarist, and composer. Jim Davis, lead vocalist and collaborator on the band's original tunes, chops a steady backbeat on the mandolin and occasionally lets fly a twin fiddle number with Scott.

Bear Mountain Boys have performed at various events in Kern County including honoring our veterans at the Bakersfield National Cemetery, Tehachapi Mountain Festival, Tehachapi Concerts in the Park, Main Street Farmers Market, Tehachapi's Fourth of July Celebration and other popular venues. In 2014, the Boys released their first album, Home to Jordan's Banks, now available on iTunes, Amazon MP3, and CD Baby. Find them on Facebook and YouTube.
