Tehachapi's Online Community News & Entertainment Guide
Get your dancing boots all shined up and join us after the Saturday night rodeo for an old fashioned western dance at the Tehachapi Event Center and Rodeo Grounds. The dance immediately follows the rodeo in the southwest corner of the grounds.
Tickets will be on sale for $10 at the TMRA information booth on the north side of the stands. The Boys Scouts of Tehachapi will have lots of food and non-alcoholic drinks. Adult beverages will be available also at the TMRA Watering Hole. The dance committee has been very busy gathering fabulous items for the raffle that night. There will be lots of two- stepping and line dancing with the live music provided by the very popular Night Life Band.
The proceeds from this years dance will benefit the Patriotic Service Dog Foundation as well as victims suffering from this summer's Erskine Fire.
The Patriotic Service Dog Foundation is a non-profit organization serving our veterans by raising awareness of their needs for long-term mental and physical assistance. Through the efforts of Patriotic Service Dog Foundation, our wounded veterans are matched with highly trained and skilled service dogs that allow their new partners to become more independent, self-confident and comfortable with life outside of the military. Professional and volunteer trainers work alongside deserving veterans to help them develop lasting and meaningful bonds with the dogs that provide so much more than just companionship.
This years' dance will also help many of our neighbors in the Lake Isabella area who were effected by the devastating flames of this summer's Erskine Fire. The fire scorched well over 47,000 acres and destroyed over 257 structures. During the July 4th Benz Bad Bulls ride, TMRA offered event discounts to the generous people of our community who donated goods to the victims of the Erskine Fire.
Update: The recipient of last years dance proceeds, young Madison Patrick, was extremely thankful for all those who attended the dance. The monies raised were very helpful in dealing with her mounting medical costs. Madison has suffered a few setbacks since last year but remains positive as she moves forward in her treatments.
