Tehachapi's Online Community News & Entertainment Guide
Do you have a great looking RED car? This year the Apple Festival is sponsoring a Red Car Show on the first day of the Festival (Saturday, October 8).
Let's start with what the Apple Festival is. On Saturday, Oct 8 and Sunday, Oct 9 from 10 til 4 p.m., we will celebrate apples in Tehachapi. There will be approximately 75 vendors, many of which are food vendors, each will feature something apple. There will be apple drinks, plain old apples, candied apples, caramel apples, apple pie, apple blossoms, and any other number of apple delicacies you can think of.
There will also be vendors selling wares from clothes, toys, art, candles, jewelry and so much more.
There will be a "Kid Zone" which is set up on the Tehachapi Train Depot lawn with games and numerous bounce houses. The Rail Road Park stage will be home to fun events like modern bobbing for apples, a pie eating contest and an apple pie baking contest. Red House BBQ will have beer available, and there will be beer and music in Centennial Park as well as music on the stage at Rail Road Park. The last two years over 8,000 people came to Tehachapi from all over Kern County and the Antelope Valley for this event.
Back to the car show: Cars will be parked at 8 a.m. and are required to stay until 6 p.m. (Saturday only). The winner will be announced at 5 p.m. Entry Forms are available on the website (www.tehachapiapplefestival.com) and entry is only $20. Entries will be limited to the first 25 cars. Two prizes will be offered, one for the Best of Show ($250) and one for Second Place ($100). The selection of the winners will be voted on by the public. Ballot forms will be provided and each car will be given a number to be displayed for voting purposes (remember it's limited to the first 25 cars).
