What’s Up in BVS?
It’s become a tradition in our lovely Tehachapi Valley to begin the holiday shopping…not at the mall or on-line, but at the BVS Whiting Center, where many of the talented artists and artisans in our area will be gathered for the Annual Holiday Bazaar. The festivities begin on the day after Thanksgiving (Nov. 25) from 10 to 5 p.m., and continue Saturday (Nov. 26) from 10 to 3 p.m. Admission is free! Event passes are available at the gate, or call 821-3534 for info.
At the Bazaar you will find many wonderfully unique gift items for those you love. There will be jewelry, hand-crafted signs, rustic art items, knit scarves and hats, stained and leaded glass, silk scarves, gifts for the four legged members of our homes, and other works of art. There will be 48 artists at the Whiting Center, and each artist has donated an item for the raffle. Additionally, these generous businesses have donated the following items: Hitching Post Theaters (4 pair of tickets), The Shed, Red House BBQ, The King of Siam, Petra’s Mediterranean Restaurant, and possibly more to come. Raffle tickets are a really good deal at $1 for 1, and $5 for 8.
One of the best things about the Bazaar is Santa’s Café. Kathleen Selleck is helping Santa by offering soups, especially Lasagna soup, sweets and savories, and beverages. Kathleen uses organic ingredients and will offer some gluten free items. So poke your nose in the Green Room and begin the season of “yumminess” with a treat.
The BVS Cultural Arts Association has the goal of bringing the arts, music and entertainment, intellectual offerings through the Insights Program, and provides scholarships to deserving students within the local area schools. BVSCAA is a not for profit organization. Thank you for your support.
