Tehachapi's Online Community News & Entertainment Guide
Tehachapi area Homebrewers are at it again as they prepare dozens of unique homebrewed beers for the Nov. 12 Cheers to Charity Homebrew Edition tasting event. TK Pizza and Pasta will host the afternoon of stouts, ales and IPAs. Tickets are $25 each and include a glass and all tastings. Breadsticks and pizza by the slice will be available for purchase.
Cheers to Charity: Homebrew Edition will feature only homebrewed beer, no commercially-produced selections will be allowed. Andy Franchere, a homebrewer himself, is heading up the homebrew team of entrants. "I'm excited about the types and amount of beer we will be serving. We will have pale ales, brown ales and red ales; an American stout and an Imperial stout; as well as several IPAs. Literally, there will be something for everybody. We are thrilled to share our craft, jump start the 2017 contributions, and give back to the community."
The Cheers to Charity committee reinvests proceeds into the community. According to Mary Beth Garrison, Cheers to Charity President, "three main nonprofits will be chosen in January. At that time, committee members present the names and missions of organizations that have made an impact on them during the past year. The committee meets with the organization to ascertain their purpose, passion, impact and ability to raise funds. A final vote is taken and event recipients are announced in February. It must be unanimous."
Checks, to local nonprofit agencies are distributed, once a year in September. In addition to the three primary nonprofits, mini grants have been awarded to other organizations contributing through volunteerism, promotional support, attendance and outreach. The more money raised, the more Cheers to Charity gives away.
Cheers to Charity: Homebrew Edition is Saturday, Nov. 12, from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m., at TK Pizza and Pasta. Tickets are $25.00 in advance and $30.00 at the door. Tickets can be purchased at TK Pizza and Pasta, Don Juan's Grill or online at Eventbrite.com. Ticket sales are limited to the first 200 purchased. It's a great way to hang out with friends, meet local brewers and turn compassion into action.
Cheers!
