Stallion Springs CERT
Stallion Springs CERT held a BBQ lunch at Dedication of their new Communications Building on Saturday, Oct. 15. The new building houses a repeater to extend the range and quality of radio communications in the event of an emergency.
Team Leader Sandy Young in thanking the group said, "Your commitment and your involvement with Stallion Springs CERT has allowed us to attain our vision of a communications system that serves the residents of Stallion Springs and beyond."
Mary Beth Garrison, President of Cheers for Charity was CSD General Manager during the 2011 Comanche Complex fire which was the first real test of the CERT team. The fire showed that communication was a real challenge and the quest began to improve the communications system. Mary Beth and her group have provided over $7,500 to assist CERT in reaching their goal in obtaining the equipment to solve the communications problems. Garrison said that "During the fire was the time I really, really, came to appreciate the intense value of CERT and the volunteers. You guys stayed 24 hours; no one could have paid the volunteers money to do a better job."
Ryan Rush, Field Representative for County Supervisor Zack Scrivner complemented the group on being ready for a disaster when it happens.
CERT has been serving Stallion Springs for 13 years.
