What's Up in Stallion Springs?

The Stallion Springs Police Department works with the children in the community as part of its community policing effort. In addition to its efforts with the Police Athletic League, field trips, police station visits and other activities, the officers work with the Girl Scouts assisting them with projects and reading to them. Officer James Best volunteers to read to the preschool class during Story Time at the Community Center and has taken them on a field trip to Murray Farms. Best has also worked with some local Woodward campers and assisted with a Woodward photo shoot.

Community Emergency Response Team

C.E.R.T. is nearing completion of the distribution of the Names and Numbers Telephone Books. Thanks to all who were available to participate in this project, It was also a great way for members to learn the streets of Stallion Springs.

Coming up this fall, 2017, Stallion Springs basic Training Class. CERT is about readiness, people helping people, rescuer safety, and doing the greatest good for the greatest number. CERT is a positive and realistic approach to emergency and disaster situations where citizens will be initially on their own and their actions can make a difference.

Through training, citizens can manage utilities and put out small fires; treat the three killers by opening airways, controlling bleeding, and treating for shock; provide basic medical aid; search for and rescue victims safely; and organize themselves and spontaneous volunteers to be effective.

The dates have been set for our next SSCERT Class. Please invite others to take the training and remind them, that they do not need to commit to being an active part of the SS team. Taking the class for "information only" is absolutely encouraged.

2017 class dates are, Wednesday, Oct. 11, 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 14, 8:30 to 4:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 21, 8:30 to 4:30 p.m., and Saturday, Oct. 28, 8:30 to 4:30 p.m. Put it in your calendar now
