Tehachapi's Online Community News & Entertainment Guide
Come enjoy a sampling of some great local pots of chili while supporting the Tehachapi High School Robotics Team on Sat., Feb. 25 from 12 to 3 p.m. at the THS Cafeteria. Tickets are $5 each if bought presale and $8 each if purchased at the door.
The event features a wide variety of home crafted chilis, a guest speaker, and the presentation of the 2017 robot, designed, built, programmed and operated by our local robotics team. This year’s program will feature Heather Maliska, NASA speaking on “Drones in the US Air Space”. The Kern County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad will show off their robots as well. Additionally, attendees can support the programs of the THS robotics team through purchasing items from our silent auction.
The THS Robotics Team offers opoprtunities for students of all ages to learn about and participate in programs related to robotics and hands-on applications of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
Items in the silent auction include:
• Four one-day park hopper tickets to DisneyLand
• Two tickets for dinner and a tournament at Medieval Times
• Four tickets to watch a taping of the Wheel of Fortune
• A Football autographed by LA Rams’ Quarterback Case Keenum
• Autographed books: The Martian (Andy Weir); Mars (Leonard David); and How to Build a Spaceship (Julian Guthrie, Brian Binney, Mike Melvill, and Dick Rutan)
• More tickets for places like: the Santa Ana Zoo, the Aquarium of the Pacific, the Living Desert, the Battleship Iowa
• Lots of great donations from our local businesses
