Mayor Ed Grimes reappointed to Public Safety Policy Committee

City of Tehachapi

Tehachapi Mayor Ed Grimes was reappointed as a member of the Public Safety Policy Committee of the League of California Cities. As a long-standing member of the committee, Ed Grimes also served as Chair. Mayor Grimes will hold his term on the Public Safety Policy Committee until the League’s Annual Conference in the fall of 2017.

“I am honored to serve as a member of the League of California Cities Public Safety Policy Committee. We have an opportunity to invest in strong relationships with both newly elected legislators and those who have been re-elected. As part of the League’s decision making arm on public safety policy issues, I will be working closely with city officials throughout California in shaping statewide policies impacting local government issues. The League is engaged in building partnerships with state and local leaders and creating tools and resources for local law enforcement who serve and protect our communities,” remarked Mayor Grimes.

The Public Safety Policy Committee of the League of California Cities reviews both federal and state legislation and issues and makes recommendations to the League board of directors related to law enforcement, to fire and life safety policies including emergency communications, and to emergency services including ambulance and disaster preparedness. The Committee uses existing League policy, annual conference resolutions and the knowledge and expertise of individual committee members in order to recommend policies in these and related areas.

Ed Grimes has a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Criminal Justice and is a retired Supervising Parole Agent III. He has lived in Tehachapi for over 50 years, raised his family in the community. His wife Ruthie is a retired school teacher and provides active support in his positions of Mayor and as a member of the League’s Public Safety Committee.
