Tehachapi Mountain Bike team takes home first place

In the beautiful area of Keysville Special Recreation Area, near Lake Isabella the Tehachapi Mountain Bike teams competed in their third High School/Middle school race on March 25-26. Now in their fourth season the Tehachapi MTB team has over 35 riders competing in the SoCal NICA High School League, which is made up of over 60 teams and 800 riders in the surrounding Southern California schools.

The rollercoaster style single track and fast fire road climbs was a challenging course yet triumphant for Tehachapi , with the team taking first in Division 1 team competition. The Warrior Division 1 team competes against the largest southern California teams in the SoCal league. Six riders made the top five podium spots for their respective categories: Freshman Boy's Composite Division, Levi Donnell took 2nd place and Conner Smith, 5th. JV Boys Division 1, Ethan Zehr 2nd place and Nolan Sheehy taking the 4th. JV girls Division 1 was Madsyen Rails taking 2nd place and Micah Mason placing 4th in the Varsity Girls Division. Head coach Darrin Mason couldn't be more proud of his team for this honor. "We have been working hard since December, riding in the rain, cold and, of course, wind. Watching the kids get stronger and more confident with their technical abilities is why I and more then 10 other volunteer coaches love doing it, but we couldn't do it without the continued support of our team parents, community and sponsors. This is a great sport that the whole family can enjoy".

The Mountain Bike team has two races left with the SoCal League Finals being held in Tehachapi on April 29-30. If you want to see a well organized race with over 1000 riders come out and enjoy an exciting and fun day of racing at the Lehigh Trails.
