First Friday in Downtown Tehachapi - 5 to 8 p.m., July 7
On Friday, July 7, as part of the First Friday evening event, the Tehachapi Christian Bookstore will host a book signing for author Eran A. Baumann for his first novel, "Daddy: The Shofar of Abel." The event will be held at the Tehachapi Christian Bookstore on Tehachapi Blvd. from 6 to 8 p.m. Baumann is a local Tehachapi resident who identifies with no specific label, choosing instead to be called "a follower of the Messiah Yeshua." He will be signing copies of his inaugural novel that follows a broken family on the adventure of and for their lives.
The book originally began as a detailed character sketch during a creative writing class and from this tiny impetus grew an epic story that spans around the world. The story tells of 11-year-old Anna Booth and how her life was falling apart. Her mother cheating with a man at church who wasn't her father, her dad lost in his own life wandering through each day desolately, racing headlong into a bitter divorce. Anna and her sister, 5-year-old Evie, a rambunctious kindergartner eager to conquer the world, and their parents suddenly find themselves in deadly peril when the unthinkable happens.
On the one morning that should have been triumphant, her first day at a brand new middle school, her entire world changed in the blink of an eye. The one thing she most feared losing was gone. Her best friend, Karen. Before lunch, everything she once thought to be only story turned out to be true. Everything she always trusted as true were all lies.
Baumann brings readers along with Anna to discover how far she would go to save Karen. He presents scriptural concepts outside of mainstream Western Christian doctrine, returning to the Hebrew roots. This is Baumann's first novel and was released earlier this year. In addition, Barnes and Nobel in Bakersfield will host a signing on the afternoon of Saturday July 22, 2017.
