Tehachapi's Online Community News & Entertainment Guide
If you were wondering what goes on at the Tehachapi Apple Festival taking place on Oct. 7 from 10 til 6 p.m. and Oct. 8 from 10 til 4 p.m. on Green Street in the heart of downtown Tehachapi, let me just say A LOT! Admission to the Festival is FREE.
Besides the more than 80 vendors featuring any number of things from great food, wonderful desserts, excellent drinks, and all variety of products including clothes, accessories, toys, educational books, purses, jewelry, food rubs, spices, aprons, and you name it, there is a fantastic Kid Zone which features all kinds of fun bounce houses. The Kid Zone and vendors will be open throughout the festival.
The Free Masons will be offering free child ID cards to parents on the deck of the Depot Museum both Saturday and Sunday. At the far end of the festival between E and D Street on Green Street will be a petting zoo, face painting, book reading and other kid friendly entertainment periodically throughout both days. A robotics demonstration and magic show are also scheduled.
At Centennial Plaza there will be an adult playground featuring live music, beer, hard apple cider and wine. There will be tables and chairs to sit and enjoy whatever food you purchase and listen to live music. Also at Centennial Plaza there will be apple bobbing for the kids periodically on both days, on Saturday a pie eating contest and on Sunday The Loop Newspaper presents a pie baking contest.
Featured on Sunday is a Red, Yellow and Green Car Show on F Street between Curry and Green Street where the public will select their favorite car. Additionally, Kern County Office of Government is hosting an Electric Vehicle car show where several dealers will showcase EVs and EV owners will have a meetup. Test drives around the local streets will be offered. The car shows will be from 10 til 4 p.m. on Sunday ONLY.
You can also take your chance and purchase a foam apple from the Lions Club which will be sold at their booth. On SUNDAY watch as the apples are dropped from a crane onto a target on the Street. The apple closest to the target will win the grand prize.
The event is being sponsored by Adventist Health Tehachapi Valley (our Presenting Sponsor), Omni Health (our Gold Sponsor), The Loop Newspaper, Benz, McDonalds and KGET.
