Piano Summer Camp starts July 16

Slice of Life Enrichment School

Does your child know how to read music but feel frustrated by how long it takes to learn his or her pieces? Would you like to help him or her learn to play with more spontaneity and ease in social settings – without having to prepare for weeks and weeks ahead of time? Would he or she like to play with other musicians or accompany vocalists? Would they enjoy playing duets or even playing in a piano ensemble with 4-8 other pianists at the same time?

If this sounds appealing, consider enrolling now for this summer's Slice of Life's Piano Sight-Reading & Duet/Ensemble Camp! This intensive camp experience, offers 2 hours of instruction each day, Monday through Friday, for two consecutive weeks. It will comprehensively help students become super fast at note identification, pattern recognition, rhythm and dynamics, all in a socially rewarding environment featuring games, contests and group performances, all designed to help them level-up their piano-playing skills in an exciting and fun way.

This is not a camp that teaches a chord-playing method or how to play with "cheat books", rather the format has been developed to help traditionally trained pianists learn to learn faster, with more accuracy, success and fun than they may have enjoyed so far.

Traditional lessons (including those we offer during the regular school year) often focus on polishing and perfecting pieces that may take weeks or even months to master – in relative isolation! But our Piano Camp can help students learn the often overlooked (or at least under-taught) skills of good sight-reading and the added benefits of playing piano with other musicians. Duets and Ensembles (also known as piano teams) are not just a fun diversion but, a great (and motivating) way to help students better learn to improve rhythm, play without pauses or stopping, encourage team-work and responsibility, and improve musicality by fostering enhanced listening skills.

Session 1 runs weekdays from July 16-July 27/ 9 a.m.-11 a.m.

Session 2 runs weekdays from August 6-August 17/ 9 a.m.-11 a.m.
