Flag Retirement Ceremony

Local Pipers Travis Combs and James Carmichael, followed by a Color Guard from the California Correctional Institution, lead in the participating scouts for the 2018 Flag Retirement Ceremony at Coy Burnett Stadium.

In accordance with United States Code 176-36, "The Flag, when it is in such a condition, that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning."

Well worn or damaged flags were collected and unfolded one last time by the scouts prior to each flag's fire-bound retirement.

Mountain Bible Church Pastor Marvin Slifer was honored with this year's new flag from Congressman Kevin McCarthy's office. Pastor Slifer was recognized for his 46 years of community service and support to scouting.
