Aquatics Manager joins full-time office staff

Tehachapi Valley Recreation & Park District

At the Aug. 20 TVRPD Board Meeting, Interim Recreation Supervisor Ashley Krempien presented a Certificate of Recognition to Emerson Fisher who had served as Aquatics Manager during the summer. Fisher will continue on the TVRPD staff during the off-season in the district offices. They reminded everyone that the pool will shut down the day after Labor Day.

Interim General Manager Corey Torres reported to the Board that he had submitted a grant application for funds made available by the passage of California Proposition 68 Parks, Environment and Water Bond in June of 2018. The 133 page, $8.1 million application would be for West Park only as it was felt that the case for Central Park renovations was not strong enough to attract first round funding. That application can be submitted for the second round in two years. Included in the West Park application was financing for replacing the parking lot, placing the open drainage ditch underground, bathrooms, an additional gym, jogging/walking path, pickleball courts, skate park, a new basketball court and new turf for the ball fields. Grant recipients will be notified in December.

TVRPD Board Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of the month at 5:30 p.m. in the TVRPD District Office, 490 W. D St., Tehachapi. Public welcome.
