Drug Take Back Day results

Tehachapi Police Department

On Saturday, Oct. 26, the Tehachapi Police Department participated in the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Tehachapi residents were encouraged to bring in their unwanted, unused, expired medications and, for the first time, vaping devices and cartridges for disposal.

The Tehachapi Police Department received a total of 66.4 pounds of unwanted medications from the community. Those medications were sealed and turned over to the DEA for disposal.

This program, offered twice a year, provides the community an opportunity to safely and responsibly dispose of medications which keeps them off our streets and out of our water system.

The next scheduled Prescription Drug Take Back Day will be in April of 2020.
