Tehachapi School Board Update
In response to the need for more teacher and staff collaboration time in order to more fully meet the needs of their students, the Tehachapi Unified School District has built in eight late-start Wednesdays over the school year that will allow for these two hour planning sessions.
In order to allow for the state required number of annual education minutes, each of the schools have had to adjust their schedules to allow for enough banked minutes to cover the planning meetings. The three elementary schools will add an additional nine minutes to their day.
Jacobsen will not be affected and Tehachapi High School is handling their changes internally.
Beginning Jan. 6, the three elementary schools will begin their new schedule. Cummings Valley will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 3:26 p.m .; Golden Hills will begin at 8:51 a.m. and end at 3:17 p.m .; and Tompkins will begin at 8:55 a.m. and end at 3:20 p.m.
The late start days will begin in February and parents will be notified on these days.
