Tehachapi's Online Community News & Entertainment Guide
I love books. I will read an entire book because I like the way the cover fits in my hands or because its cover has a specific texture.
Walking into libraries and used books stores has always made me happy just because of the smell and feel of the books. That being said, I love eBooks! There is something wonderful about knowing that if I finish the second book in a series at 1 a.m., I can instantly download the third one without having to wait! I also love audio books. Who doesn't like having someone else read them a story? Humans have been telling one another stories since before we mastered written language and there is a reason for that. Listening to someone else's voice create a whole new world that is magical. I love stories in any form.
Luckily, the Kern County Library system agrees with me! Once you have a library card, you don't even have to come into the library to get your books. We have an entire suite of apps available which will allow you to sign in with your library card and borrow eBooks, audio books, comic books and even movies for free. Libby by Overdrive is a good place to start since they have a lot of popular titles available, and you can even borrow the books and send them directly to your Kindle. If you can't find the title you want there, you can also give Cloud Library a try! Want to borrow a book, comic or movie? Check out Hoopla. You can get three items free every month without any hold lines to wait through. Just want to look through audio books? RB Digital has a ton of them! You can access them from a phone, tablet or home computer.
The best part is, you don't have to remember to return anything! Once your item is due, it returns itself, so it is impossible to get late fees. If you want to find out more, you can always swing by the library or visit www. kerncountylibrary.org and check out the eLibrary page.
