Farmers Market in Tehachapi
One of Tehachapi's favorite summer events is now open. The Farmers Market on Green Street in Downtown Tehachapi runs through Aug. 13. Hours will be from 4 to 7:30 p.m. each Thursday. This year the Market will initially only have fresh produce, packaged foods and essential household items such as soap.
Permission from the Kern County Environmental Health Department was only granted last week and the Market is not allowed to have live music, food vendors for on premise consumption, or arts and crafts vendors like in past years. It is hoped that these additional features will be allowed later this year as commerce begins to open up again in Tehachapi.
The Farmers Market is sponsored this year by Tehachapi Adventist Health, Waste Management, The Loop newspaper, God's Glory in Tehachapi and the City of Tehachapi. Main Street thanks the sponsors for stepping forward during this difficult time to help present this eagerly anticipated community event.
Main Street is also taking donations to pass along to the farmers to help them in this time of need. A form can be found on our website at http://www.MainStreetTehachapi.org for sponsors or you can print out and send the form with a smaller donation.
Please come out and support the area farmers and find fresh vegetables and fruits. Shoppers are asked to follow social distancing guidelines and are encouraged to wear masks. For more information call Charles White at (661) 972-0958.
