Tehachapi's Online Community News & Entertainment Guide
Sunday, October 25, the 40th Anniversary celebration of Moessner Family Farms, the first farm to table restaurant in Tehachapi, dawned as a rare foggy, drippy day, the only such weather day of that type in several weeks, as it turned out. Despite the gloom, the celebration drew a steady stream of guests, amounting to a few hundred people, over several hours. Among the festivities were a pumpkin patch where guests could pick their own pumpkins, a pumpkin carving station, several independent vendors, live classic rock 'n roll music by Lil Elmo and the Cosmos, and, of course, food! Children were treated to a bouncy house and the best Halloween costumes were displayed and honored at the end of the day. A total of 15 contestants entered the costume contest; the winner received a generous gift certificate to the Moessner Cafe and the remaining 14 received goody bags.
In the mid afternoon, the Moessner family and crew took to the stage to tell the story of how the restaurant and subsequent ventures (produce stand, catering) all evolved.
All in all, in spite of the temperature, the anniversary celebration turned out to be a very enjoyable, successful event and a great commemoration for one of our very unique Tehachapi businesses.
On Friday. November 6, Moessner Cafe is beginning home delivery. Orders can be placed online or by phone.
