Keep Kern Beautiful looking to recruit committee members

Kern County Public Works Department

Over the past year, the Kern County Public Works Department has been working diligently with different community members throughout the County of Kern to establish a Keep America Beautiful® affiliate called Keep Kern Beautiful (KKB). And on February 9, with a unanimous vote, the Kern County Board of Supervisors approved the establishment of the Keep Kern Beautiful Committee (KKBC). Now, KKBC is currently looking to recruit 10 individuals to serve on this committee.

It is KKBC's mission to protect and beautify our natural environment by means of community engagement, education, and empowerment. Interested applicants will be required to uphold and promote KKBC's mission and vision to improve the cleanliness and appearance of the County and enhance the overall health and welfare of its citizens. Selected committee members will recommend to the Kern County Board of Supervisors policies, programs, specific efforts and will work together to improve the quality and appearance of community life.

Applications are available at the County Clerk's Office, County Administration Office, 1115 Truxtun Avenue, or at the County's website: http://www.kerncounty.com. There are 10 open vacancies that will consist of one member and one alternate member per supervisorial district. Applicants for this recruitment will be nominated by the Kern County Board of Supervisors (Peters, Scrivner, Maggard, Couch, Perez), and will serve a two-year term on the committee.

For further information and assistance regarding these appointments, please contact the County Clerk's Office at (661) 868-3585. Residents interested in serving on the KKBC are encouraged to contact each County Supervisor regarding their interests and qualifications.
