Loop Overlook update, Depot re-opens

After a year-long closure,the Tehachapi Depot Museum reopened on the weekend of April 10 and 11. Docents were on hand to show visitors through the exhibits. They paused for a quick picture before masking up for the day. The Depot will be opened from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday only during the months of April and May.

The Loop Overlook committee was also on hand outside the Depot, passing out popcorn and collecting donations for the new Loop Overlook project. Their goal is to raise $100,000 for the building of a new safer viewing platform at the Tehachapi Loop. The project is a joint effort of the Friends of the Depot, the County of Kern and community stakeholders. The weekend brought them almost $2,000 closer to their goal of $100,000.

It will take donations from everyone in our community to push them over the finish line. If you haven't made a donation to the new Loop Overlook project, now is the time to make a difference. Friends of the Depot is asking local residents and businesses to help them reach their goal of $100,000 that will allow for the groundbreaking.
