Employees recognized by TUSD Board

Tehachapi School Board Update

At their regular board meeting held on May 11, the Tehachapi School Board presented awards of recognition to four district employees.

Sheri Dees was recognized as Certificated Teacher of the Year. Dees has 17 years with the district and has been a teacher for 24 years. According to Superintendent Stacey Larson-Everson, Dees is known as a "tech guru" and Canvas expert. She sets high student expectations and is a guiding light to her students.

Jennifer Webb, who is secretary to the Vice Principal at Jacobsen Middle School, was chosen Classified Employee of the Year. Webb has been with TUSD since 2015. She is devoted to education, the students and their families, and goes above-and-beyond to support them all. Larson-Everson called her a great ambassador for JMS and the school district.

Superintendent Larson-Everson also introduced the District's April Trailblazers.

Stacie Williams is a kindergarten teacher from Golden Hills Elementary. "She is the glue that has kept the team focused and moving forward this year," said Larson-Everson.

The April Classified Trailblazer is Angeles Gracian who is an instructional paraprofessional at Tompkins Elementary. Gracian has been with the district for three years and, according to Larson-Everson, is the "epitome of collaboration and teamwork."

The Board of Tehachapi Unified School District meets at 5 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month at District Offices located at 300 S. Robinson St. Meetings will be virtual for the rest of the school year.
