Friends of the Tehachapi Library
We know that it’s been a long time, but with the Tehachapi Library reopened one of the best places in Tehachapi to buy books is once again available.
In case you’ve forgotten, or didn’t know, downstairs in the Library the Friends of the Library has their Continuing Book Sale. Books are classified into broad categories and set up on two walls – and the prices are cheap.
The Library is open from noon to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. If you come down to Farmer’s Market on Thursday, be sure to pop into the Library to see what kind of deals are there for you.
Many of you like to come to the seasonal Big Book Sales, which we haven’t had in a long time. That hiatus is going to be coming to an end. Oct. 9 and 10, the weekend of the Apple Festival, will be the return of our Big Book Sales. So, get that on your calendar.
To help us learn how to work within the new constraints we’re going to have a Pop-Up Clearance Book Sale on Thursday, Aug. 5 from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. This sale is going to focus on special items and our antique and specialty books. All of these will be half price, an even better savings off the usual good deals.
If that still isn’t good enough for you, starting at 4 p.m., to help us make room, there will be a $3-a-bag sale until the Pop-Up Sale ends at 5:30 p.m. Why do we need to make room, you might ask. Well, the Friends of the Library has started to take book donations again, and we know that many of you have been holding on to your books, waiting until you could bring them to us. That time has come. You can now bring in, when the Library is open, two boxes or bags of books per day. Don’t bring them all in at once, we don’t want to overwhelm our volunteers.
The Friends of the Library volunteers work before the Library opens Wednesdays through Fridays. If you’d like to join in and volunteer to help, contact the Friends of the Library at [email protected] or call (661) 750-2818. If you can’t volunteer, help support our Library by coming in and buying books at the Continuing Book Sale or come to the Pop-Up Clearance Sale on Aug. 5.
