Friends of the Tehachapi Library
The Friends of the Tehachapi Library had a clearance book sale on Thursday, Aug. 5, and the one day, middle-of-the-week book sale went even better than expected.
There was a line waiting when the doors opened at 10 a.m. and a steady flow of people came through until the sale switched to a bag sale at 4 p.m. At that time even more people showed up and several bought multiple bags.
This sale was held to help the Friends of the Library prepare for a more typical "big" sale which is coming up in October to coincide with the Apple Festival (which has moved to the weekend of Oct. 16-17). Given the success in developing a set-up process for this clearance sale, we're confident that the October sale is going to be another good one.
You can help us get ready for that sale: the Friends of the Library is taking book donations again. Come by when the Library is open (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday noon to 6 p.m.) and drop off books you'd like to donate to the Friends of the Library. You're welcome to bring in two boxes or bags of books per day.
The Friends of the Library volunteers are working before the library opens Wednesday through Friday to sort and clean books brought in. These books go into either the "Continuing Book Sale" downstairs or set aside to provide books for the October "Big Sale."
If you'd like to join in and volunteer to help, contact the Friends of the Library at [email protected] or (661) 750-2818. If you can't do that, help support our Library by coming in and buying books at the "Continuing Book Sale" downstairs and remember to put the "Big Sale" on Oct. 16-17 on your calendar.
