Assemblyman Vince Fong
To help find loving homes for pets, Assemblyman Vince Fong will cover the costs for the first 100 pet adoptions at Kern County Animal Services during the month of October. Originally scheduled for September 16-18, Fong's Third Annual Free Pet changed to October 4 to promote the adoption of dogs from local shelters.
"The shelter is full of loving animals in desperate need of a good home," said Assemblyman Fong (R-Kern County). "Having two rescue dogs of my own, I know the wonderful impact a pet can bring into a home.
"Adopting and caring for a loving animal has been shown to lift a person's spirits and bring emotional health to families. I encourage everyone to come and provide a forever home for a pet in our shelter to come," added Fong.
On Monday, October 4 at 10 a.m., Assemblyman Fong will be at the shelter to welcome families. All interested residents are encouraged to join him. The Kern County Animal Services is located at 3951 Fruitvale Avenue in Bakersfield.
