The Big Book Sale this year is October 16 (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and 17 (10 a.m. to 1 p.m.) is going to be another 2-in-1 sale. This means that there will be a section with individually priced books and a section with Bag Sale books. And there are some amazing books that are going to be available, one example is a 4th edition of Nathaniel Hawthorne's Tanglewood Tales.
Another is a biography of Union General William Tecumseh Sherman from 1891, the year of his death. Among the other books you'll find (assuming someone doesn't snap them up beforehand) an early edition of Booker T Washington's autobiography Up From Slavery, and a 1st American edition of Doctor Zhivago. There is also a large collection of books on the literature of the American Old West.
Saturday will be a typical sale with special books individually priced and another section with books for sale in the Bag Sale. For these books you get a bag for $3 and then can fill it up with the books from this area. Then on Sunday the sale turns into a Clearance Sale. Bag prices drop to $1 and the individually priced books will be 50% off.
If you have books you'd like to donate, come by when the Library is open (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday noon to 6 p.m.) and drop them off. You're welcome to bring in two boxes or bags of books per day. The Friends of the Library volunteers work before the library opens Wednesday through Friday to sort and clean books brought in. These books go into either the Continuing Book Sale downstairs or set aside to provide books for the October Big Sale.
