Tehachapi's Online Community News & Entertainment Guide
There are 11 Tehachapi downtown businesses that deserve to be recognized: TehachaPIE at Mill Street Kitchen, Four Seasons Cafe, Kohnen's Country Bakery, Tehachapi Flower Shop, Thai-hachapi, The Loop newspaper, Nannette Keller Boutique, Tehachapi Christian Store, Alligator Rose, Tehachapi Treasure Trove and On The Blvd Antiques. Together, with local artist Judith Campanaro, they are helping create a 2022 calendar.
The intent is to raise money for the Tehachapi SENIOR CENTER. Campanaro learned a few months ago that ever since the covid-19 lockdown began, the Senior Center was having difficulty paying their electric bills and she wanted to help.
"The pandemic set everyone back. Even now, many are suffering from post-covid stress," said Campanaro. "I didn't have the money to write a check personally, so I decided to engage the community. I have lived here six years now and I've learned that our city is always there to meet each other's needs. All we have to do is ask."
Campanaro rendered paintings of each of the businesses. The 2022 calendar will be similar to the one she did last year of different scenes of Tehachapi. Terry Asher, a local graphic artist, is doing the design work. Calendars are $20 each with 25% of all net profits going to the Tehachapi SENIOR CENTER. Only a limited number of calendars will be printed, so order early if you would like one. The word on the street is you won't be disappointed.
The Loop newspaper office, 206 S. Green St., is selling the calendars: Monday through Thursday 9 to 5 p.m., Friday 9 to 1 p.m. For more information or to order a calendar contact Judith at (646) 896-4434 or e-mail her at [email protected].
