Holiday Decorating Contest

Sponsored by The Loop newspaper and the City of Tehachapi.

Stop in at The Loop office at 206 S. Green St. to sign up or contact City Hall at (661) 822-2200 ext. 102 or email [email protected].

Expanded area for contest: Greater Tehachapi area homes & businesses, including Downtown, City, East and West Golden Hills, Oak Knolls, Bear Valley Springs, Stallion Springs and Sand Canyon.

Deadline to enter: December 10 at noon. Judging during the evenings of Dec. 11-13, weather permitting. Winners will be announced in the Dec. 18 edition of The Loop newspaper. More information can be found on page 7 and 10 of this issue.

Saturday, Nov. 20

Hot Chocolate Turkey Trot 5K, hosted by Tehachapi Valley Recreation & Park District.

This event will start and finish at Brite Lake. Enjoy this fun run with your family to help get in the spirit for Thanksgiving. 5K route is stroller-friendly. It goes around Brite Lake on dirt and gravel roads. Register online at http://www.tvrpd.org and at the TVRPD offices Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Pre-registration until Nov. 18 $30; race day registration at 8 a.m., $40. Race starts at 9 a.m.

Annual Christmas Bazaar, hosted by Tehachapi Valley Recreation & Park District.

Nov. 20 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Nov. 21

10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Aspen Builders Inc. Activity Center, 410 W. D St., Tehachapi.

Dozens of vendors with items including holiday decorations, women’s clothing and jewelry, beauty products, food gifts, home décor, children’s toys and clothing, handmade items and much, much more. Holiday Bazaar, hosted by the Bear Valley Springs Cultural Arts Association.

10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Whiting Center, 26940 Bear Valley Rd., Tehachapi.

Shop early for the holidays! Enjoy your favorite local artists, Santa’s Cafe, and Santa’s Mailbox. Gate pass from a BVS resident needed for entry into Bear Valley Springs.

Saturday, Dec. 4

Christmas Parade, following the unexpected passing of Chamber of Commerce President Ida Perkins, the City of Tehachapi has volunteered to assist the Chamber Board to make sure the Christmas Parade will be held as usual. Check the Nov. 20 issue of The Loop newspaper for more information.

Saturday, Dec. 4

Breakfast with Santa, hosted by the Tehachapi Rotary, Kiwanis and Lion clubs and Salvation Army.

New location: Aspen Builders Inc. Activity Center, 410 W. D St. from 8 to 10 a.m.

Free picture with Santa, plus games and kids activities and breakfast (pancakes, sausage and beverages) for the whole family. Admission and parking is FREE.

Saturday, Dec. 4, 11 & 18

Santa at the Depot, photos with Santa at the Depot is back, along with a Bake Sale, Hot Chocolate and a new Christmas train layout from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 18 will be digital pictures only.

Tehachapi Pop (TPops) Orchestra Free Holiday Concert, hosted by the Bear Valley Springs Cultural Arts Association.

Friday, Dec. 10

Tehachapi Symphony Orchestra, featuring selections from Handel’s Messiah at 7 p.m. The Symphony Orchestra will also perform Christmas Day by Gustav Holst and In Terra Pax by Gerald Finzi.

Saturday, Dec. 18

Wreaths Across America in Tehachapi is sponsored this year by the 5150 Dieselz of Tehachapi. Wreaths will be laid out at Westside Cemetery at 9 a.m., followed by a ceremony at the Eastside Cemetery. An All Services Wreath Laying will take place at Freedom Plaza at 6 p.m. Donations can be made through Robert and Debie Peralta at (661) 333-7184 or (661) 303-0878.

Friday, Dec. 31

Triassic Vineyard’s New York New Year’s Eve Celebration, 5 to 9:30 p.m. Fulcos Band playing hits from all genres. Red House BBQ is serving tri tip, chicken and sides. Sip award-winning wine.
