Tehachapi's Online Community News & Entertainment Guide

We celebrate because we care

The Loop newspaper is first and foremost a publication with a heart for the community of Tehachapi. Owned and operated by a local family since 2001, this publication has always aimed to put the needs and cares of our beloved town first. That’s why, from the very beginning, we have published celebrations of life (obituaries) and life’s various happy announcements for Tehachapi residents at no charge.

In recent months, we’ve heard from a few readers that there have been too many Celebration of Life articles in the paper lately. As the owner of The Loop newspaper Claudia Baker recently said, “Every life is unique and special. Each story deserves to be told.” Free obituaries are a concrete way to show concern for members of the community at a time when they have suffered a loss.

The Loop newspaper will continue to publish Celebrations of Life for free. However, due to the growing number of them that are submitted to our office, we would like to ask that they be limited to 500 words and to one photo of the deceased. This will enable us to continue to share each unique life story without charging the bereaved families. We thank you, our community, for the opportunity to serve you in this way.
