Pat and Lisa Caploe have both spent much of their lives, together and separately, traveling around the world as Christian missionaries. They moved into their Tehachapi home in late September 2021 and said this is the first home they have ever purchased. For the last six years, they were in San Jose in order to be closer to Pat’s dad who was in poor health. Prior to that, they had lived in Bakersfield for 13 years, working with the First Presbyterian Church at H Street and Truxton. It was friends from Bakersfield that introduced them to Tehachapi. They love their new home. It came with an extra unit that is now licensed as an AirBnB.

Pat was born in Redwood City, California but has lived all over the Bay Area. At one time his father was city attorney for the town of Mountain View. When he was young, his father was in the Peace Corps and the family traveled to Bolivia and other South American countries. Music has always been a passion for Pat. He sings, plays the guitar and arranges music. He studied Jazz at San Jose State and has been a traveling musician and church music director. His travels have taken him to New Zealand, the Philippines, Korea and China.

Lisa was born in San Antonio, Texas. She became a missionary in 1984 and traveled to India with Youth With a Mission in 1988. In 1992 she went to Hawaii to attend University of the Nations. She met Pat there and they were married. Their sons David and Josiah were born in Hawaii and are now living in Bakersfield. Together Pat and Lisa have made mission trips to Mexico, Canada and Hong Kong.

Since moving to Tehachapi, they have joined the Tehachapi Vineyard Church. Pat is hoping to find a venue for his music. He also enjoys watching soccer. Lisa’s hobbies are walking, biking and art. She also likes to sing.
