What's Up in Stallion Springs?

Per Capita grants have been approved for both Horsethief and Man O'War Parks.

The CSD staff is looking forward to starting these projects to better our parks for the community. Projects planned for use of the grant include aerating the lake, new tables, benches and playgrounds at both parks.

Parks and Recreation Coordinator, Shawnee Brown, has also been working to give the preschool room at the community center a makeover so it can be used for other children's activities.

The CSD has hired a new Recreation aide, Nicole Liere. She is a Stallion Springs resident and has volunteered for several community events in the past. She is very energetic and involved.

Current Recreation programs include:

Adult basketball has returned on Monday nights from 7:30 to 9 p.m.

Judo is on Mondays and Wednesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Yoga with Sonya is Mondays at 5:30 p.m. and Thursdays at 9:30 a.m.

Dance Class with Miss Chris is on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Corral room.

Pickelball continues on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m.

Police Report

Chief Gary Crowell filed a report of statistics for January 2022. The Department had 21 arrests, issued eight citations, had 172 reports, 140 calls for service, completed 24 officer initiated investigations, 42 field interviews and five medical assists. There were four vacation house checks and the department assisted other enforcement agencies 14 times.

If you have a life-threatening emergency, call 911 and specify to the dispatcher that you live in Stallion Springs. The Stallion Springs Police Department is dispatched through the Kern County Sheriff's Office.

If you wish to make an appointment to speak with an officer contact the CSD at (661) 822-3268. Appointments maybe canceled at any time due to limited police staffing.

The Chief shared his plans to continue Police Information Meetings. These meetings more often, to expand the group and get more volunteers involved in the Leadership of Stallion Springs Neighborhood Watch in 2022. The meetings have been very valuable to our residents, and provided important information regarding crime, crime prevention and safety issues in our Community. The Chief and his officers always have had an "Open Door" policy with our residents and strive to maintain a friendly and helpful/educational approach to any problems.

Looking for a great Summer Job

Stallion Springs Parks and Recreation will be hiring for Seasonal Certified Lifeguards. You must have Red Cross Lifeguard certificate. Successful completion results in a 2-year certification in Lifeguarding that includes First Aid, professional-level CPR and AED in one certificate. Digital Certificates are available upon successful completion of course prerequisites. All students MUST complete the online Lifeguard Pre-Assessment prior to the in-person class. Proof of Pre-Assessment completion required to attend class...300-yard swim test, 10-pound brick test, ability to tread water without hands for two minutes. Parks and Recreation

Open gym hours are now Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Stallion Springs Board of Directors

The Board meets on the third Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m. in the CSD Boardroom or at the Community Center subject to COVID restrictions. The next meeting is scheduled for March 15 at 6 p.m.
