Improv class, new artist, design a mug at Tehachapi Arts Center

Johnathon and Susan Hall will present their Improv Class on Saturday, April 30 from 5 to 8 p.m. This is a class not a performance. Students will learn and perform improvisational art.

Our new photographer Carol O’Connor will be showing her unique photography on canvas pieces. Carol has had an interest in photography from a young age. The beauty of nature is her favorite subject.

Design Your Own Mug with Grayson on Saturday, April 23 from 1 to 4 p.m. This is a fun class for younger artists and a great opportunity for a parent/grandparent and child adventure.

Lucinda’s Sculpting Class will be held every Saturday morning from 10 a.m. to noon. The medium will be clay. Lucinda will provide a clay sculpting kit for a reasonable fee if you do not have your own tools.

Paint Night is on Saturday, April 16. Craft your own masterpiece with the help of Lucinda Thomas. Snacks, drinks and all supplies will be provided. There will be wine, as well as other beverages.

Our Children’s Art class is now at 3:30 p.m. every Wednesday so that students can more easily attend.

You can have an artistic birthday party for your own group of artists. Just call the center to plan your event and reserve a date.

We would like to remind everyone that the Arts Center has Open Studio time Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you or a group need a roomy place to create your art away from your daily distractions or if you just want to be in a creative environment, we have a place for you. Sew your quilt, paint a picture, sculpt or just socialize.

Coming in May

First Friday will be on May 6 at 5 p.m. Join us for snacks, punch, wine and the work of local artist Amanda Abernathy. She will be our guest artist for May. View her fantastic biomechanical and sci-fi artwork on First Friday and throughout the month of May.

Cathy Clark will be conducting a Beginning Polymer Clay Class on Saturday, May 14 from 1 to 4 p.m. She will teach the basics of working with this material and you will create a decorated piece. This class will fill up early so do not wait to sign up.

Local author Lauraine Snelling is offering her Writing Great Fiction Class on Saturday, May 21 at 9:30 a.m. Lauraine a successful writer with 140 books published will show you some of her methods and tips to organize and produce compelling works of literature.

Also, on May 21 is our fun Paint Night from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The Tehachapi Arts Center is a cooperative, continuing the heritage of Mel White’s Treasure Trove providing a venue for local artisans to gather, learn, teach and, of course, display and sell their art.
