Spring Book Sale at the library, April 23

Friends of the Tehachapi Library

The Tehachapi Friends of the Library is having their Spring Book Sale on Saturday April 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be both vintage and specialty books on sale at great prices, and the traditional "bag sale" books with lots of fresh inventory.

For the popular Bag Sale you pay $3 for a provided bag, then you can fill it up with books from the Bag Sale area. These books will include an abundance of fiction and non-fiction books for you to choose from.

The vintage and specialty books are sold individually priced, but these prices are typically very reasonable. Some of the items being sold are a group of first edition books by Winston Churchill. There are even more of the vintage and specialty books available this time, actually about 20% more, due to some very generous donations. Additionally, there are two boxes of books available that have been signed by the author.

There will also be a collection of materials from The Great Courses, which will be sold at about 10% of their original prices. (That's right 90% off.) There are three boxes of these, with something for every interest. Also there will be some art and craft work in the Books Into Art series available for sale. This consists of books (in too poor a condition to sell) that have been converted into art.

While all these prices are great, for real bargain hunters the price for a bag of books drops to $1 after 3 p.m. The vintage and specialty books will be half off starting at that time. This helps keep all the inventory "fresh" for the next sale.

Speaking of fresh, the freshest donated books go into the Friends of the Library Downstairs Bookstore at the Library. Books here are individually priced with very reasonable prices. The Bookstore is available to you year round whenever the Library is open (11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday through Friday) located at 212 S. Green St. New books get added to these shelves daily, and the more that get sold the more new books there are room for.

All the funds raised from The Spring Book Sale and the Downstairs Bookstore are used by the Tehachapi Friends of the Library to support the Library and its programming. So when you buy books from one of the Friends of the Library book sales the money goes back to the community in the form of programming and other activities at our library.
