Tehachapi's Online Community News & Entertainment Guide
"Fifty nine years and still bucking strong," the Tehachapi Mountain Rodeo Association announces its 2022 season.
The season starts with a June 4 Sponsor's and Kick Off Dinner.
July 4 will once again present "Bad Bulls."
Aug. 19 and 20 will be the PRCA Rodeo.
In addition to adult rodeo fun, the TMRA also has a long running and very active Junior Rodeo program. Junior Rodeo Chairman Tom Tully stated, "we are excited to again offer our Jr. Rodeo action and competition to our young men and woman of Tehachapi. In previous years we have had over a hundred kids every season enter the competition. Our youngest being a 3-year-old 'steer' roper."
Junior Rodeo contestants are ranked into age groups with the oldest being 20 years of age. The youngest age group is 6 years and under. Pre-signups are necessary and are happening now. For more information and to sign-up, email [email protected]. Jr. Rodeo dates this year are June 25, 26, July 30 and 31.
Sponsors are always needed and are well-honored for their contributions. TMRA long time Chairman Dal Bunn stated, "many of our sponsors have been with us well over 20 years, have become family and make our rodeo the best around! We ask you to continue this community relationship. We are always in the need of adding more volunteers either through financial support or 'in kind' help."
Sponsorship information from local businesses, be it corporate, or individual, is available by contacting TMRA Chairman Dal Bunn at (661) 331-5650.
It's because of community sponsorship's and involvement that the sport of Rodeo has continued to be played these past 59 years in Tehachapi.
