Tehachapi's Online Community News & Entertainment Guide
On Friday evening, July 22, the Tehachapi Arts Commission will be unveiling its second nationally recognized art show. At this elegant gala, the 40 artists who journeyed to Tehachapi in May to explore local surroundings and begin the paintings that will be on exhibit at this show will be back to display their finished work. This year a special Aerospace category has also been added.
Attendees at the Friday evening event will have the opportunity to meet the artists including featured artist Eleinne Basa, purchase paintings and talk with collectors who have come from all over the country. The awards for "Best of Show," "Best Landscape," "Best Urban Painting" and "Best Still Life" will also be presented at this event.
While strolling through the aisles of paintings, everyone will enjoy the cuisine provided by Bord A Petite of Bakersfield, wine provided by Dorner Family Vineyard and two open bars.
Tickets for the July 22 gala are $100 and are available for advance purchase only from Laura Dreyer (626) 945-3753 or by contacting Jeanette Pauer at Tehachapi Chamber of Commerce (661) 238-8177. Tickets will also be available online at Eventbrite until July 17. Tickets will NOT be available at the door.
All proceeds from ticket sales will go to fund TAC's first Art in the Parks project. This will be a life-size bronze sculpture of a young girl skateboarder and will be placed at West Park near Ollie Mountain Skate Park.
The Tehachapi Arts Commission is a local nonprofit organization affiliated with the Greater Tehachapi Economic Development Council with the mission "to establish Tehachapi, California as a destination for representational fine artists and collectors."
