Celebration of Life
Patricia Ann Smith-Chavez, 85, left us to be with God on Aug. 21. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and faithful servant of God. Services will be officiated by Pastor Martinez and held on Sept. 12, at the Wood Family Funeral Service Chapel. The service is scheduled at 10 a.m., followed by an immediate graveside service.
Patricia was born in Eufaula, Oklahoma, on May 18, 1937, to Thomas Ellis Moore, Jr. and Mildred Pauline Needham. Her first job was working for a phone company, followed by other occupations in accounting and administrative work for aircraft manufacturers in the Antelope Valley. Patricia eventually retired from working for the California Department of Corrections in 1998. She was married to Jose Chavez, who has been in her life for 26 years.
She loved the Lord, and He always came first. She was very involved and dedicated to her church. One of Pat's favorite things to do, and a hobby she passed down to many generations, was her love for shopping. She always kept a very clean house and found tranquility in a nice, pristine home. Moreover, Patricia was known for the love experienced by those close to her. She was naturally gifted as a mother, teacher and nurturer.
Patricia is survived by her husband, Jose Chavez; siblings, Peggy Shepard (sister), and Charles Martin (brother); children, Donna Marquez, Paula Teeters, Brian Teeters (son-in-law), Sherwin P. Smith, and Cheryl Smith (daughter-in-law); grandchildren, Charity McCain, Salina McCain, Crystal Roberts, Sean Azure, Cassandra Talvitie, Amanda Shaw, Danielle English, Heather Smith, Krista Galdamez, Sheree Hooten, and Sherwin G. Smith; great-grandchildren, Harmony, Skyler, Kamryn, Noah, Kennedy, Andrew, Briella, Wyatt, Remi, Taylor, Jace, Raelynn, and Briggs; and great-great-grandchild, Andromeda.
She was preceded in death by Thomas Moore, Ernie Rico, Pauline Needham, and Delois Moore.
