Each year TVAA challenges local photographers to show off their best photos. The contests, held every February and August, provide local photographers with a chance to display their favorite photos, earn a ribbon or two and even the possibility of going home with a cash prize for their efforts.
The first contest in 2005 featured photos by over two dozen photographers. Over the years the contest has gone through some amazing transformations, growth, and in the aftermath of COVID, some struggles to survive. Now 2023 brings forth a new opportunity for photographers to share their photos and show off their talents.
"I always look forward to seeing new photographs, new creative viewpoints and new stories from our contestants," said contest founder and organizer Gale Caldwell. "It is great to see everyone comparing technical notes and sharing stories about where they were when they took their photo. It's always a feel good event."
Submissions for the 2023 February contest will be accepted from Jan. 20-30. Contest reception with refreshments will be First Friday, Feb. 3 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Gallery 'N' Gifts.
