Tehachapi's Online Community News & Entertainment Guide
Glen Steinheimer moved to Tehachapi early February bringing with him his online pool and spa supply business, A2Z Pool Supplies. Glen has been in the pool service business since 1981 and hopes to get his company known in Kern County.
According to Glen, he was born in Covina only because that was where the hospital was. His home was in Glendora and that is where he grew up. He went to Citrus College where he studied Police Science with the idea of becoming a police officer. That dream ended when a friend of his was shot.
He went into real estate and began working with pool and spa companies on the side. Selling services and supplies soon became his full time business. Glen was married for 22 years and has two grown daughters. He has now been divorced for 10 years and when a friend recommended he bring his services to Kern County, he decided to give it a try. Tehachapi seemed the perfect place for an online business for a guy who loved to hike, fish and go mountain biking.
To keep him company at home and on hikes, Glen adopted a 10-month-old German shepherd named Abbey. Abbey and Glen are still learning the ropes of their new location but looking forward to getting down to business.
Tehachapi welcomes Glen and Abbey and we know you will enjoy your new home.
Reyna and Jose Hernandez arrived in Tehachapi in January from the Antelope Valley. They had sold their home in Lancaster and moved into their RV in a park there until they found the place where they wanted to live. They were looking for a place that was quiet and away from the city. Tehachapi was that sort of place, although Reyna now admits that they did not take the number of daily trains into account. They are getting used to them, she said. Their daughter Alexandra is now living in the RV in Lancaster.
Both Reyna and Jose were raised in the San Fernando Valley and were both divorced when they met on the dance floor at the El Presidente Restaurant in Mission Hills. Reyna is a restaurant server and had worked banquets at the Airtel Plaza Hotel near Van Nuys Airport until the pandemic. Since then she has had many jobs including the graveyard shift for IHOP. She began looking for work in Tehachapi as soon as she arrived. Jose is a mechanic and currently working in car sales.
With their combined families, Reyna and Jose have 12 grandchildren and one of them lives with them here in Tehachapi. Seven-year-old Nathan takes the bus all the way from Tehachapi to Cummings Valley School every day. When I asked Reyna what her hobby was, she answered "rest," although she does have a little Pomeranian named Chewy to keep her on her toes. In his free time, Jose likes to ride his motorcycle and has a classic car that he enters in car shows. He is looking forward to entering it into our local shows.
Welcome to Tehachapi Reyna, Jose and Nathan.
