House Concert, April 14

We have a very special private event coming up on April 14 at 4 p.m. Because it is a house concert, there is limited seating and we do recommend making your reservations soon.

Four wonderful musicians are coming to Bear Valley Springs to perform a variety of classical and jazz numbers for your pleasure. Appetizers and wine will be served. The suggested donation is $20 per-person.

Bryan Pezzone, piano, has been a freelance performing and recording artist in the Los Angeles area since 1987. He is known as a versatile performer who is comfortable in classical, contemporary and improvisational styles. He performs with composers and musicians as diverse as Pierre Boulez, John Williams and John Adams, and records on countless films and television soundtracks. He is the pianist in the group Free Flight, a crossover classical/jazz quartet. These concerts feature many of his own compositions. He had been principal pianist in the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra from its inception in 1991-1999. He was the former chair and founder of the multi focused keyboard department at the California Institute of the Arts from 1987-2000. He abandoned both those positions to discover new paths and is passionate about continuously redefining himself and his role as an artist, musician and person in today's complex and eclectic culture. Lisa Hill, flute – For more than 26 years, Lisa McKim-Hill has taught music in the public, private and charter school systems in both California and Arizona. Primarily a director of bands at the high school level, Lisa has also directed elementary and middle school bands and choirs during her career. Additionally, she has served as an adjunct professor of music (directing both orchestra and wind band) for Central California community colleges. Recently, Lisa designed and directed music outreach service projects with high school band students, providing music performance projects for refugee children, homebound disabled seniors and U.S. veterans. Prior to her teaching career, Lisa was a practicing music therapist in the Southern and Central California Regions. She has written articles and led numerous clinics pertaining to music therapy, music education for chamber winds and works for band by women composers. Lisa holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music, with a Certification in Music Therapy from California State University, Long Beach (1987) and a master's in music, with emphasis in Instrumental Music Conducting (2001) from California State University, Sacramento. Kenny Katz, piano, lives in San Mateo and is a full time high school history and math instructor. He graduated from Cal State Long Beach with a Bachelors of Arts in political science and a minor in math. He also gives piano lessons and had accompanied for the Church of Christ Scientist for 15 years. Kenny regularly performs at Stanbridge Academy and in house concerts.

Devin Duquette, tenor, has a Bachelors of Arts in voice. He is a resident of Tehachapi and is a soloist at the Christian Science church. He has written and performed an album of sacred songs for guitar and voice with violin of Mary Baker Eddy poems. He was a campfire singer at Newport Dunes, sang with Euterpre Opera and continues to perform in local area concerts.
