Planning Commission Update
The tract map for the first of two condominium projects to be located on Pinon St., west of Curry St., was presented to the Tehachapi City Council by the Tehachapi Planning Commission following a public hearing at the Commission’s April 10 meeting. The Pinon South Condominium Project was initially approved at the April 11, 2022 Planning Commission. The two-story project will contain 19 units and will be fenced and gated. Copies of the proposed tentative map were distributed to a select list of neighboring agencies, city departments and local utilities on March 13 soliciting any needed changes.
During the public hearing held at the Monday evening meeting, Shirley Embry, who lives nearby, asked about water usage. Development Services Director Jay Schlosser said he had no concerns as the unit would only use two to three acre feet of water per year and is too small to need a CEQA review. When asked, Schlosser said the development will have its own HOA.
A second condominium project to take place of the north side of Pinon St. was not ready for review and will be taken under consideration at the May Planning Commission meeting with its own public hearing.
The Tehachapi Planning Commission meets on the second Monday of the month at 6 p.m. at the Tehachapi Police Department Community Room located at 220 W. C St.
