Celebration of Life
Timothy Stuart Champlin died peacefully on April 3. He was born on Nov. 7, 1966, to Ivan and Alva Champlin in Bakersfield. He graduated from North High School in 1984 and then served four years in the United States Navy as a Corpsman.
Tim met and married his wife, Carrie Goodsen of Lancaster in 1990. After his discharge from the Navy, they moved back to Bakersfield, then settled in Tehachapi. In 1999, they had their only son, Jason Champlin. Tim served as a Probation Officer for the Kern County Probation Department for over 12 years until he was forced to medically retire in 2013.
Tim loved to travel, and their family enjoyed great adventures over the years. Disney World, Lake Tahoe and the Central Coast were among his favorite places. He loved finding good restaurants and Dorne's in Morro Bay was a special favorite. Tim loved cowboys, collecting Western art as a hobby. He also loved music, particularly rock music, and went to dozens of concerts with Jason and Carrie. Sammy Hagar's "I Can't Drive 55" will forever sing in our hearts.
Tim lived and battled for his family for over 12 years against medical adversity. They were challenging but wonderful years and he is the strongest man we know.
Tim is preceded in death by his parents, Ivan and Alva Champlin. Tim is survived by his wife, Carrie, and their son, Jason Champlin. He is also survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Jenee and Kevin Morris, and nephews, Alex, Mackinzie, and Sean Morris. He leaves behind many beloved family and friends.
A Celebration of his Life will be held on May 13.
